THE GENESIS OF THE PRODUCT

The Four Stages:

Think of that piece of land that lay in the sea a million years ago and emerged in a new world. Today it forms the basis of all our terracotta artefacts and is produced in four fundamental.

Earth
The first step is the preparation of the dough with tuff, another inert element from the Sienese hills.
Water
The water helps the clay to bond with the tuff, in a union that amalgamates and finally creates the mixture by adding the right amount of moisture.
Air
The drying phase can last up to three weeks, during which time, the air removes the moisture from the dough until it reaches a percentage of 5% - the ideal value for moving on to the baking phase.
Fire
Our kilns help the piece of earth take on its final identity, with temperatures of up to 1000°C for about 72 hours. The quartz, contained in the molecules of the mixture, fix themselves on the surface, guaranteeing the product's solidity and quality over time.
